An interesting post from NPR looks at undecided voters, and it seems rather odd that the group the article focuses on would be on the fence in the coming election.
Recent polling commissioned by the AARP found that women aged 50 and up are the biggest wildcard in this election. They are, as a group, reliable voters, who are more politically moderate and less partisan than many other voting blocs.
While I understand some hesitance to vote for Biden because of his age and because the Democratic Party, in general, seems somewhat wishy-washy, the alternative of allowing Trump to return to power seems like it should be motivation enough to back Biden, if for nothing else the women’s rights issues alone. And while many of these women will no longer be considering having children, the implications of the Dobbs ruling should motivate all women to keep the Republicans from power as long as they support draconian anti-abortion laws and any regressive legislation that has an adverse impact on women’s rights.
This proves that the Democrats still face challenges with their messaging and need to remain diligent as we head towards the pivotal 2024 election.
